Safety is a priority for Bujagali Energy Limited (BEL), the team carried out a sensitization campaign for fishermen on dangers of fishing close to the spillways. The sensitization also addressed the need for the fishers to observe and respect the safety signages and procedures put in place by BEL.
A total of 250 fishermen from both upstream and downstream of the Bujagali dam were in attendance. At the end of the sensitization campaign, each fisherman received fishing hooks, life jackets and fish nets.
