Bujali Energy Limited (BEL) started a program that allows farmers to use part of the land allocated to the hydro power project for agricultural purposes and at no cost. The company has over 600 farmers registered in the programme in the nine project villages. This was done to promote SDG 2 (End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture) in communities around BEL.

In addition, farmers have been trained on sustainable farming practices through the provision of advisory services such as training of farmers on soil conservation and management, use of organic compost and compost making and crop pest and disease management.
